The Royal Forge is located at Royal Bastion

Indispensable for the production of cast iron necessary for the needs of a large citadel, two forges were built by Pierre d'Argencourt, in the flanks of the royal bastion. The two chimneys allowed the making of molds and the casting of the alloy for the manufacture of small metal parts.
The cannons made at Brouage came out of the forge of his now extinct arsenal.

Indispensables à la production du fer de fonte nécessaire aux besoins d’une grande citadelle, deux forges furent construites par Pierre d’Argencourt, dans les flancs du bastion royal. Les deux cheminées permettaient la confection des moules et la fonte de l’alliage pour la manufacture des petites pièces métalliques.
Les canons fabriqués à Brouage sortaient plutôt de la forge de son arsenal aujourd’hui disparue.
