"Example of eclectic ranchhouse reflecting personal influence of the owner-builder. Documentary support is meager for the alleged history. Constructed about 1872 by Eugene Garnier five years after he purchased Rancho El Encino. Here the Garnier family moved from the adjacent de la Osa adobe, to live in relatively lavish style for the rural scene. Garnier, a Basque, built El Encino into a large-scale sheep ranch, only to suffer severe losses including the ranch itself and the 2-story stone and adobe Garnier Residence." (visit link)
