The New Synagogue is the synagogue of the Thuringian state capital Erfurt. It is located at the Juri-Gagarin-Ring and is the only synagogue in Thuringia as well as the only synagogue built during the GDR era. It serves as a prayer room for the Jewish community of Thuringia, which has around 850 members.
The simple two-storey plaster building was built in 1951/52 according to plans by Willy Nöckel and inaugurated on 31 August 1952. Until its destruction in 1938, the Great Synagogue stood on the site.
