Wire Cache Rest Area is a lovely spot to take a break and enjoy the views of the South Thompson River. The rest area offers picnic tables and modern restrooms. Installed in 2018 are EV charging stations: Fast Chargers and Level 2. Also added is the "Garbage Gobbler" a revived version from the original first placed in BC parks in 1950.
"B.C. drivers will have access to 11 new public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations added to highway rest areas throughout the province this fall (2018). Three of these stations are situated in rest areas on the Yellowhead Highway running through the North Thompson Valley; Fish Trap, Little Fort, and Wire Cache."
