First Responders 9/11 Memorial - Springfield, MA - 9/11 Memorial Sites on Waymarking.com

On June 19, 2019 the City of Springfield dedicated its 9/11 memorial honoring first responders. A 9.5-foot structural steel beam from the destroyed World Trade Center in New York City was donated to the private, non-profit Spirit of Springfield organization by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The Spirit of Springfield raised $300,000 for the contruction of the monument.

The beam is set upright in front of a curved bronze wall inscribed with the names of 498 first responders who lost their lives on 9/11. At night, beam will be illuminated by two spotlights that shine down on the beam and cast a shadow resembling the Twin Towers onto the wall. Link to image: (visit link)
