The plaques appear to be cast in bronze and have the crest of the Royal British Legion, with a list of names of the fallen who were from the 1939 -1945 war.
These plaques are in addition to the towns war memorial which is close by
Sir Edward Hain (d. 1917) lost his son in World War 1 and gave the land for the memorial park in commemoration.
