The Thuringian Cycle Route links seven of Thuringia's most beautiful cities and also leads through the charming countryside of Thuringia, which is characterised by its rich history. This long-distance cycle route is particularly suitable for culture lovers and touring cyclists. As part of the D4 route, it is connected to the Germany-wide long-distance cycle path network and connects the Wartburg town of Eisenach in the west of the Free State with the skat town of Altenburg in the east.
On approx. 230 km across Thuringia historical city centres, well-known sights and cultural highlights are offered as stage destinations.
All towns along the long-distance cycle route - Eisenach, Gotha, Erfurt, Weimar, Jena, Gera, Altenburg - are connected to the Deutsche Bahn railway network. This means that sections of the cycle path can also be easily covered.
