A mural is painted on the southeast side of the Contemporary Theater Company. Seen from Main Street, the colorful and bold design draws you to the building.
The artwork surrounds the main entrance and covers the entire façade, which is about 20 feet high at the gable's peak. The background of solid white and black is nearly evenly split vertically; the right/black side takes up just over half the width. From left to right, there are four main elements:
- The words "OCEAN STATE IMPROV FEST" in yellow cover the shape of the state of Rhode Island, which is red. "JUNE 5 - 9" in yellow- and red-striped letters spans a rectangular blue banner painted along the southern shore of the state.
- A light-colored pirate ship is under sail - complete with a skull and crossbones - along the center of the gable.
- A horizontal orange band contains the theater's name to the right of the boat.
- A pink donut with pink frosting and a smattering of sprinkles hangs from the right side of the entryway's double doors.
