Un bref historique...

À l’époque, un équipement majeur faisait défaut au sein de la municipalité, soit l’absence d’une patinoire couverte. C’est en 1980, qu’un comité de financement et de construction fut formé, et à l’automne 1981 débutaient les travaux visant à doter Palmarolle d’un aréna. Et le 6 mars 1983, fut inauguré officiellement l’aréna de Palmarolle. En 1989 un investissement majeur de 345 000 $ permet l’ajout d’un système de glace artificielle et d’isolation.

De plus, le 3 juillet 1994, l’aréna a officiellement reçu le nom de : Aréna Rogatien Vachon, en l’honneur du célèbre gardien de but, natif de Palmarolle, qui amorça sa carrière dans la LNH, avec les Canadiens de Montréal durant la saison de 1967-68, et qui ensuite se promena de Los Angeles à Détroit, pour terminer sa carrière avec les Bruins de Boston en 1982.

En octobre 2004, M. François Melançon de La Sarre, lança une invitation au coordonnateur aux loisirs et au développement de Palmarolle, Michel Parent, qu’il fallait faire davantage pour rendre hommage à Rogatien Vachon. Au début il était question d’améliorer le cadre existant sans plus... Puis les idées et les commanditaires embarquent dans l’aventure, si bien que le 1er juillet 2005, avec la présence de M. Rogatien Vachon, les Loisirs de Palmarolle et les deux collaborateurs, M. Melançon et M. Parent, dévoilent une exposition permanente qui relate la carrière de M. Vachon.

C’est l’inauguration de l’exposition Rogatien-Vachon ayant pour titre : « Depuis les rangs mineurs à son ascension à la Ligue Nationale de Hockey, venez revivre les prouesses de Rogatien Vachon, natif et fierté de Palmarolle. ». À l’automne 2010, après 3 ans passés avec une glace naturelle, l’aréna de Palmarolle célébrait sa réouverture officielle et fonctionnait à nouveau avec une glace artificielle.

Les Loisirs de Palmarolle, appuyé financièrement par la Municipalité, ont investis près de 60 000 $ dans la réparation des systèmes de réfrigérations et l’actualisation de l’aréna et des chambres des joueurs. L’acquisition de nouveaux items ayant appartenu à Rogatien-Vachon lui-même seront bientôt ajoutés à l’exposition Rogatien-Vachon qui à été remise en place, telle qu’on pouvait la voir lors de son ouverture.

Il y a également une nouvelle unité à l’Aréna : La Chambre des Vétérans! L’inauguration de cette nouvelle chambre de joueurs vétérans s'est faite le 18 avril 2015.

This is the inauguration of the exhibition Rogatien-Vachon with the title: "From the minor ranks to his rise to the National Hockey League, come relive the prowess of Rogatien Vachon, native and pride of Palmarolle. ". In the fall of 2010, after 3 years with a natural ice cream, the Palmarolle arena celebrated its official reopening and was working again with artificial ice.

Les Loisirs de Palmarolle, financially supported by the Municipality, invested close to $ 60,000 in the repair of refrigeration systems and the updating of the arena and players' rooms. The acquisition of new items that belonged to Rogatien-Vachon himself will soon be added to the exhibition Rogatien-Vachon which was put back in place, as we could see when it opened.

There is also a new unit at the Arena: The Veterans Room! The inauguration of this new chamber of veteran players was on April 18, 2015.
