The lead artist for "Home, Here. En Casa" was Greta McLain the Artistic Director of GoodSpace Murals of Minneapolis, MN. GoodSpace Murals promotes community development through the creation of works of art and use art to promote community development and reclaim residents’ stories and identity.
To this end the 290' long 4 story high mural divided into 11 sections by the brick columns that support the walls. "Home, Here. En Casa" uses six residents of Springfield as models and portrays them in various activities as well as some images related to Springfield. Against a multicolor background are from left to right:
A falcon - Downtown Springfield annually hosts a pair of nesting falcons. It is also the name and mascot of the Springfield AHL hockey team.
Artist Shirley Holmes, a Springfield resident, appears in an active pose. She is wearing an elaborate dashiki, consistent with her African-American heritage.
A monarch butterfly - often seen during their migration.
