In 1813 Duke August of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg had a monument erected in memory of the Duke's chief gardener Heinrich Christian Wehmeyer (1729-1813). It is a tree trunk reproduced in stone, which carries a stone tablet with the following inscription: "Den Manen des würdigen Wehmeyer" (To the spirits of the worthy Wehmeyer).
