Bronze statue on a marble base located near the southwest corner of the State Capitol grounds in Harrisburg.

Boies Penrose was a Republican who held the record for longest-serving Senator from the state until surpassed in 2005 by Arlen Specter.

Penrose spent the majority of his life in public service, first at the state level, then at the national level. He served as a representative, then state senator and sat on many committees.

He died in office in 1921.

The statue was not completed until 1930. It is 9 feet tall on a 7 foot granite base. The base is inscribed simply:

BOIES PENROSE
UNITED STATES SENATOR
1897 - 1921
