Grant's home is located in the small historic town of Galena, IL.
Grant lived in this town, in a modest home before the civil war began. When he returned to Galena after the war, he received a hero's welcome. He was given this house by the citizens of Galena. Although he did not spend much time living in it, he occasionally returned for visits.
The home is open for tours from 9am-4pm Wednesday - Sunday. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

As you enter Galena from the South on Highway 20, you will see roadside signs directing you to make a right hand turn to the house. From the North on Highway 20, you must cross the river and then take the next left turn and follow the signs.
