Morganton Branch, the South terminus of the East Lakeshore Trail System, is a 3.1 mile easy trail with beautiful lake views and primitive campsites. Here at the southern trailhead you start your hike climbing up to Wildcat Ridge then down the other side where the trail parallels East Coast Tellico Parkway for a while before crossing the road and heading towards the lake. You then hike along the shore of Tellico Lake experiencing a beautiful boardwalk along the marshy section and 4 or 5 primitive campsites created by TVA. The Morganton Branch end at the Peterson Road Trailhead where the Jackson Bend Branch starts. All together there are almost 30 miles of continuous trail on the East Lakeshore Trail System. There is a large paved parking area with restrooms at this trailhead.
