The Pennsylvania Bluestone Association was established in 1966 in order to protect and promote the use of Bluestone in building construction in PA. The majority of the over 100 members are quarriers.
The marker was erected at the entrance to the PA welcome Center off I-81 near Great Bend. The center is built of bluestone. It was completed in 2006, at which time the stone was placed.
Marker text reads in part:
PENNSYLVANIA BLUESTONE ASSOCIATION INC.
Dedicated to the Improvement of the
Bluestone Industry since 1966.
The following participated with the donation
of the stone for this historic project.
