Huize Warmelo is a small castle with a history dating back to 1315. The glory days were around 1700. The nobility wanted to distinguish themselves from each other by adding all kinds of things to the castle.
These were often beautifully landscaped gardens, statues, sundials, ponds with fountains, an orangery and very often also aviaries.
A number of aviaries can be seen here, with in particular different types of pheasants.
Another part of the aviaries is this dovecot with 9 pigeonholes. The white doves that live in the dovecot can fly in and out whenever they like.
