When the carillon plays (old folk songs) the two little gates open and five figures run from one side to the other.
These figures represent the most important rulers of the city of Jever:
1. Edo Wiemken II, 1450-1511,
Chief of Jever and the districts Oestringen, Wangerland and Rüstringen.
2. Miss Maria, 1500-1575,
Miss to Jever, Rüstingen, Oestringen and Wangerland.
3. Anton Günther, 1583-1667,
Count of Oldenburg and Lord to Jever and Knyphausen.
4th Johann August, 1671-1742,
Prince to Anhalt-Zerbst and Mr. von Jever.
5. Catherine the Great, 1729-1796,
Empress of Russia and Mistress of Jever
