From an information panel on site:
60 cm Searchlight
Built in a range of sizes, searchlights formed a vital part of anti-aircraft defences during the Second World War. This 60 cm German model was paired with light anti-aircraft gun such as the 2 cm Flak 30 for use against low flying targets. An operator sitting behind the lam controlled the search light. Under favourable conditions, this search light could illuminate targets more than four kilometres away.
