USCGS CROSS RM 3 - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This benchmark is undocumented on geocaching.com and undocumented on the NGS database. It is a United States Coast and Geodetic Survey brass disk, a reference mark for USGS and geocaching.com documented benchmark JV6027 (visit link) (visit link) , designation CROSS. It is dated 1933. This is reference mark 3.

This benchmark will require a short hike. To reach parking, take Deer Park Road north from Liberty Road (Maryland route 26) to the Soldiers Delight overlook, on your left. The best approach is to park at the Soldiers Delight overlook along Deer Park Road, and hike northward along the Serpentine trail to the power lines. Follow the power lines north and then turn right into the woods as you approach the mark. This disk is a short distance north of USCGS CROSS RM 1, tucked among some bushes (see picture). The disk is well-worn.
