This armoured personnel carrier served as a mobile command post in Germany during the Cold War.

Based on the standard M113 armoured personnel carrier introduced in the 1960's, this command post provided extra room for headquarters staff, maps, plotting tables and communications equipment. A "penthouse", or folding tent, could be attached to the vehicle's hull to create a larger command post. In battle, carriers like this one would have enabled commanders to direct operations while on the move.
