Chieftain Main Battle Tank
Heavily armed and armoured, the Chieftain served as a British main battle tank in to the 1990's.
The Chieftain's 120 mm main gun made it the most powerfully-armed tank when it entered service in the late 1960's. Its heavy armour offered excellent protection, but the size and weight overloaded its unreliable engine. This problem was largely fixed with later models, which also received improved sensors and protection. This tank, used at the British Army Training Unit, Suffield, in Alberta, was donated to the Canadian War Museum.
