The printed metal sign is mounted at an angle on a metal post on the opposite side of the road to the Historic Courthouse. It has a reproduction of one of the photos taken from this point. The text reads:
Photographer's Point
"Hartley became a popular stop-off point on the road from the Blue Mountains to the Jenolan Caves in the early 20th century because of its perceived historical interest.
"From c.1914 until WWII, photographs of tourist groups were often taken on the way to the caves by professional photographers based in Hartley. The finished images were then collected on the way back. Countless glass negatives survive of tourist groups stopping in Hartley at this time.
"The Courthouse was the backdrop for those photographs. The caves remain a major tourist attraction; however the major access route now bypasses Hartley."
