The embedded plaque is also held in place with coach rivets, on a broad concrete parapet on the northwestern side of the eastern end of the concrete bridge. It has a slight curve, to counteract the need for the main road to swing a 'dog-leg' under the nearby rail bridge. On the southern side is a nice wide pedestrian path on the side of the bridge. There is boxed steel railings on either side of the two lanes of the bridge, with a metal safety railing fence for the pedestrians.
On the western end is a similar bronze plaque, attached to the pedestrian railing, which also shows:

The approaches to the bridges are earth-filled, retained by pink, rough-faced blocks with a concrete header at the abutment. Five hollow concrete 'U-Shaped' girders per span support the bitumen covered concrete deck of the bridge, while resting on broad concrete piers on the banks of the river.
There is convenient parking near the Fire Station and the Heritage Park.
