The history of these hut and as described by a local resident:-
Adjacent to the abandoned huts is RAF Portreath, which became or renamed CDE Nancekuke (CDE being Chemical Defence Establishment).
Nancekuke became involved in the development of NBC (Nuclear, Biological and Chemical) suits for the armed forces.
The suits were tested, under controlled conditions, using "Human Guinea Pigs". Personnel donning NBC suits and being exposed to certain "nasty's".
The hut were the test area where they were exposed.
