Funeral services for Oscar T. Martin were held at Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Church last Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
Mr. Martin was born in Kendleton on Dec. 10, 1896. He and Miss Nora Alma Brown were united in holy matrimony in 1917. To this union two children were born, one of which preceded him in death. Mr. Martin departed this life Saturday, March 18, in Polly Ryon Hospital.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nora Martin; one daughter, Mrs. Ora Lee Shoaff; two brothers, G.A. and C.F. Martin; three sisters, Mrs. A.M. Foster, Mrs. Iva M. North, and Miss Alice Martin; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
His nephews served as his pallbearers.
Rev. A.G. Hill, former pastor of Wesley Chapel, delivered the eulogy. A host of relatives and friends from San Antonio, Houston, Columbus, Victoria, Richmond, Rosenberg, Needville, Thompsons, Waelder, Wharton, Eagle Lake, West Columbia, and other surrounding communities were present at the last rites.
Interment was in the Paradise Garden Cemetery where Louis Meyers of Houston conducted the graveside ceremony of the Masonic family.
