An apt artifact because the Wickford, Rhode Island, community has a maritime history going back some 300 years and then some, this big, old anchor is installed in a miniscule park at the western shore of Wickford Cove.

This anchor is made of an iron shank and a wood stock, it has an o-ring shackle about a foot in diameter. Five square iron bands remain to hold the three-board stock together. It is located on a small grassy area with a couple of trees at the northeast corner of a parking lot overlooking a small bay right near the heart of Wickford Village with its eclectic shops, restaurants, which are all steps away. There is no information about this item on or near the anchor.
