The RNLI were foremost volunteers who manned the lifeboats around the country.Who have, also now taken on the role of lifeguards for the beaches in the UK.
The Cornish beaches have some of the best surfing conditions in the country and attracts thousands of visitors every year.
For the experienced the sea is a great place to have fun catching the waves etc.However, No-one should ever take the sea for granted. With the ever changing sea condition, situations change very quickly. The inevitable could happen and swimmers could get into difficulty.
RNLI patrol the beaches, with their knowledge and understanding of the local tides and conditions. Endeavour to safeguard swimmers and bathers. By following their flag advice and guidance through Notices, warning flags and verbal advice, all should be well.
Unfortunately, people do get into difficulties and the RNLI volunteers, risk their own lives to rescue and assist.
Regardless of anyone's knowledge and experience, always take guidance from the local lifeguard they are trained with the local conditions and tides.
