More specifically, the plaques commemorate those who served during World War I, World War II, and The Korean War. Powell Park has many monuments - most of which are related to either the town's maritime history (e.g. anchors) or the role it played in these wars and the War of 1812.
It was placed the local Women's Institute and Royal Canadian Legion Branch #158. It is topped by a Christian cross. It is built out of large granite stones that have been mortared together.
