This bridge was designed by Messrs Locke and Errington and built from 1848-50. It carries the Scottish East Coast Line over the River Dee around a mile south of Aberdeen Station on a long curve from west through to north.
It has eleven spans, six principal of steel trusses on granite and sandstone piers. Of the remaining approach spans, four are round-arches of sandstone as it crosses Riverside Drive and heads north towards the station.
