There are only two names inscribed on the western side of the granite base of this War Memorial, so I would assume that they are the ones who not only served, but fell in World War Two. The inscription is:

1939 - 1945
Pte M. Arbuthnot
Sgt J. Friday

In 1955 the original war memorial was moved from further down the hill, to this position, as Sugarloaf Reservoir was being enlarged by the raising of the dam wall, to become the larger Lake Eildon. Possibly at that time the two names for those who died in World War Two were added, to the names of those who Fell, and Returned from 'The Great War'.
