There appears to be little evidence of other building ruins in the immediate area and nothing found documented on the site. However, I offer as a potential explanation to its previous use.
My view is that, given that the Lane is called "Stamp's" infers Stamping.
When ore was brought to the surface, the ore was crushed to extract the minerals. It was originally done by hand. Teams of Women and children would wield lump hammers breaking up the ore.
With the invention of steam engines mechanised operations were invented.
One such machine was steam driven crankshaft which raised and lowered stamping shafts which consequently "Stamped "the ore. In doing so alleviated Women and Children labour (which would also explain and given the "Factories Act 1833 and the 10 hour act, Factories Act 1847)
There is however one, down side to my theory in that. To have a stamping process, the operation would need water of which there is none. Water can be found further down into the valley.
So my original theory that the chimney was for the stamping machine hold no ground.
I therefore have to conclude that it must have been for an engine house( no visible remains of the pump house) to pump out water from the deep mine. To supplement the small river and the stamping process
