Grade 2 listed building, was constructed in the 1880's at a cost of some £5000.00 and is understood to have been designed by a local architect.
The building has been built using local granite a red brick and limestone facings.
It is interesting to read that
Mining Captains caught swearing inside the exchange would be fined and money paid to the local hospital and
The Exchange was built and used during the prosperous times when local Cornish banks flourished.
The Redruth Mining exchange was in constant contact with the London Stock Exchange and was conveyed by telegraph, a new innovation at the time. It would also follow having the time station and line very close by, telegraph line following the rail track.
