Anne was the eldest of 4 surviving daughters & co-heirs of Sir Thomas Kempe 1607 of Olantigh, near Wye Kent by 1st wife Ann Moore

She m 1599 Sir John Cutt d1646 son of Sir John Cutts 1615 of Childerley, Horham Hall, Essex, & Shenley Hall, Herts by 2nd wife Margaret d1610 eldest daughter & coheire of Sir John Brockett of Brockett Hall & Helen daughter of Sir Robert Litton / Lytton of Knebworth.

Their marriage was undoubtedly arranged by Cutts’s elderly and childless first cousin (twice removed), Sir Henry Cutts of Binbury who, as part of the complex marriage settlement, contracted to entail his own valuable estate in Kent on Cutts and his heirs by Anne Kempe. For John this arrangement held out the prospect of an inheritance worth £1,300 p.a. His immediate need for a suitable property in which to establish his own household was met by his father who, through Thomas Kempe, turned over to him the family’s remaining holdings in NW Essex of Horham & Thaxted manors. However he was not required to wait long before entering into his cousin’s inheritance. Sir Henry died in December 1603,and although his widow retained a life interest in his estate her claims were invalidated sometime pre 1607 when she had remarried. He also later inherited lands from his parents.

Sir John was knighted along with his father in law at the Coronation of James 1 on 11 May 1603. He was for many years MP for Cambridgeshire He was High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire

Charles I spent the night at Childerley on 6–7 June 1647 when he was brought by Cromwell's soldiers after being captured at Holdenby Hall, in Northamptonshire.

After Sir John's death his widow Anne controlled the whole Childerley estate until their son John came of age c 1655

However the estates passed later to a distant cousin John, 1st Lord Cutts of Gowran,. )
