The ISS reached a high altitude of 71 degrees at 21:12:02 CDT with an expected magnitude of -3.9 at our Site 1 in Edmond, OK. The viewing location was near the intersection of Memorial Road and Bryant Avenue, next to a large field that provides a horizon view in every direction.
From this location we observed the ISS rise from the southwest, pass through the Summer Triangle, grazing the tail of Leo (Skyview simulation attached) before disappearing in the northeast near the star Al Fawaris of the constellation Cygnus.
At Site 2 in Ottawa, Ontario, at 22:16:38 EDST the ISS reached a maximum altitude of 79 degrees at a magnitude of -3.7. The distance covered was 1,348 miles (4.6 min. x 293 mi./min.) from Edmond to Ontario. elyob was fortunate to get a break in the clouds to see the ISS pass before the downpour arrived.
Thanks to elyob for partnering with us to complete this very fun experience!
