Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient for action at Gettysburg, PA on July 2, 1863. He is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk, OH in a public mausoleum crypt with a VA upright marker near the crypt entrance.

He was born on January 22, 1842 in Cambridgeshire, England and died on October 17, 1924 in Norwalk, OH. He was a POW from July 2, 1963 to May 19, 1864. His Medal of Honor information and citation is: STACEY, CHARLES
• Rank and organization: Private, Company D, 55th Ohio Infantry
• Place and date: At Gettysburg, Pa., 2 July 1863
• Date of issue: 23 June 1896
Citation: Voluntarily took an advanced position on the skirmish line for the purpose of ascertaining the location of Confederate sharpshooters, and under heavy fire held the position thus taken until the company of which he was a member went back to the main line.
