He was born on February 15, 1833 in Onondaga County, NY and died on June 19, 1908 in Saybrook, IL. His Medal of Honor information and citation is: SPRAGUE, BENONA

• Place and date: At Vicksburg, Miss., 22 May 1863
• Entered service at: Chencys Grove, Ill.
• Date of issue: 10 July 1894
Citation: Gallantry in the charge of the "volunteer storming party. "
