The Lake Hume reservoir was built in the 1930's to provide water for irrigation, and has subesquently been used for the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme, to provide the ability generate electricity, while preserving sufficient water for aquatic activities, including fishing.
From the top of the long concrete ramp many (partially) submerged trees can be seen, so caution is definitely required in boating here. While there is no specific parking area near the waters edge for vehicles and trailers, there is plenty of firm ground to leave your car.
