The slab has a floriated calvary cross in slight relief, with a blank shield on the stem and one on either side; round the verge is an inscription in Norman French:
Mercy luy fate Jesu Christ Amen'

[Translated: You who pass by here pray for the soul of Nicholas Grene.
His body lies beneath this stone, so much as is left by death.
Death seized him in the 50th year of his age. Jesus Christ have mercy on him, Amen]
