The post office is in the heart of the village which also includes an elementary and high school, a couple of restaurants, gas station, grocery and convenience stores, pharmacy, liquor store, hardware store, library and Township offices. The village's name was changed from Sloat's Landing to Sydenham in 1841 in honour of Lord Sydenham, the first Governor-General of Canada, who had died earlier that year.
It's unclear when the red brick post office was built. Probably in the 1970s or 1980s. It is adorned with a town clock (that doesn't work). The beauty is in the people who work there - always friendly and helpful.
