Column at former POW Camp Emslandlager V Neusustrum appears made of concrete and is approximately 5 meters high.
At the top, the swastika was replaced after the war by a metal image of a horse.
On the front, an old plaque was also removed and replaced with an embedded German text.
It reads:
"Niedersachsens Pferd sage es mir was sind wir wehrt?
Dein Geist und meine kraft, haben hier Wüsten fruchtbar gemacht."

Someone has written underneath, but that is almost illegible.

"Today, little recalls the former concentration camp: where used to be the barracks of the prisoners, are now primary school, community administration, volunteer fire department, sports hall and sports field along the pond road. An "amusement park" built by the prisoners with a pond for the SS guards has been preserved. Likewise, a Column with round arch erected by the SA has been preserved.
