Was told at the local historical group there was once, many years ago, a small church here. But they thought it was razed even before the Second World War.
Named for a creek that runs near here: "A large stream which rises in the eastern part of Elkhorn Township and runs north and east into Hickory Grove Township, east into St. Charles, and then into Lincoln County, emptying into the Cuivre River." ~ Lincoln County Atlas, 1878, page 4
