Stone pulpit in St Mary's church, Thorpe Arnold.

13th century parish church, altered 14th century. The clerestory was added and the north aisle probably rebuilt in thew 15th century. The nave was re-roofed, and the tower, south aisle, porch and chancel arch were rebuilt 1875-76 by R W Johnson. Chancel restored in 1887, from which this pulpit possibly dates.

"The present church building dates back to 1150AD, with extensions and numerous periods of rebuilding and repairs, the last major scheme being in the 1860’s, where the whole building, from the clerestory upwards, was taken down and rebuilt. It was during the period that the medieval glass was removed."
