Schon 1706 war die Errichtung eines Säulendenkmals durch den Perchtoldsdorfer Pfarrer Maximilian Aunosky angeregt worden. Kaiser Leopold I. unterstützte diese Initiative durch das vom Bau der Wiener Pestsäule übrig gebliebene Baumaterial, doch wurde das Projekt aufgrund des Todes des Pfarrers vorerst nicht weiter verfolgt.
Als Ende 1712 neuerlich die Pest den Osten Österreichs heimsuchte, erinnerte sich Aunoskys Nachfolger Johann Daniel Bock wieder des Vorhabens und machte sich an die Realisierung. Am 3. November 1713 - die Epidemie war abgeklungen ohne in Perchtoldsdorf viele Opfer gefordert zu haben - fand die Grundsteinlegung statt. Im Juni 1714 konnte das Werk vollendet und eingeweiht werden.

1706 the erection of a column monument had been suggested by the priest of Perchtoldsdorf, Maximilian Aunosky. Emperor Leopold I supported this initiative by providing the leftover building material from the construction of the plague column in Vienna, but the project was not pursued due to the death of the priest.
At the end of 1712 once again the plague ravaged the east of Austria, Aunoskys successor Johann Daniel Bock reminded the project again and restarted it. On November 3, 1713 - the epidemic had subsided without too many victims in Perchtoldsdorf - the groundbreaking ceremony was held. In June 1714, the work could be completed and inaugurated.
