Stithians Reservoir,standing at some 41m and 240m wide. During construction the dam had to be redesigned as the engineers found that the foundations were not suitable. Being redesigned forming a greater curve in the dam to achieve good foundations.

There are no natural rivers feeding the reservoir, only reliant on water run off from adjacent farmland and streams.additional water is pumped up to the holding reservoir from rivers further away.
