This double-sided free-standing information sign on the Blackstone River Bikeway at the Manville Parking Area (mile marker 14) includes two different "You Are Here" maps, one on each side.
The west-facing sign shares information about the Blackstone River Bikeway, which, when completed, will extend 48 miles between Worcester, Massachusetts and India Point Park in Providence, Rhode Island. The map details the bike path route in its proposed entirety. A red five-pointed star and "You Are Here" text highlights this location in the Manville village of Lincoln, Rhode Island. Because of scale constraints, however, only the neighboring town of Cumberland, Rhode Island is listed at this spot.
The eastern side of the marker discusses the Blackstone River State Park through which the trail traverses. The map on this side of the sign is focused on a smaller part of the same area -- from Woonsocket, Rhode Island south to Central Falls, Rhode Island. Because of the different scale of the map, the cartographer was able to label Manville and the parking area along with another star and "You Are Here" set, again in red.
Access to the biking, running, walking trail and this marker is easy thanks to the adjacent parking lot whose street address is 100 New River Road.
