The 'Nimmity Bell' has been placed on a dual-axle trailer, in the lot beside the local 'general store'. A wood framed sign at the fence-line explains the significance of the bell. It reads:

The Nimmity Bell
"The Nimmity Bell is an on-going project of the Nimmitabel Lions Club, designed to be a potent symbol of the town's transformation from sawmill town to an exciting tourist stop. Like the Mill and the Elephant, it is an attraction enticing traffic to stop in town, so visitors can enjoy the services offered and learn about the town's proud history.

"While the bronze Nimmity Bell, which was made in New York in 1920 and imported from Michigan USA may be a play on the town's name, the plaques on the stone plinth record the names of over 100 families who generously supported the Bell with over $60,000 raised in 3 months. They are a virtual roll-call of the families who built the town and gave it its heritage.

"The Nimmitabel Lions Club has worked with the former Cooma-Monaro Shire Council to develop many of the major developments in town, including the picturesque Lake Williams and this project has been endorsed by the Nimmitabel Advancement Group and received strong support from the NSW Government and Local Member John Barilaro. When it was unveiled by him and Deputy Mayor Rogan Corbett during the 2015 Nimmity Bell Festival, this attracted visitors from all over Australia and won the Council's Best Festival of the Year.

"The Bell will be mounted on an architect and engineer designed stone plinth with tall pillars to elevate it above the streetscape and will become a beautiful landmark symbolizing the future of this vibrant community"
