Philip III. from Nassau-Weilburg had 1555 repaired the tower. Here, a copper water tank with a capacity of about 80 m³ was installed in the roof of the tower, which served the operation of newly created in the castle garden water games.

The old water tank in the roof of the tower was removed around 1700 and replaced by a new one with a capacity of 26 m3. This was rebuilt in 1708 because of its small size and replaced by a 68 m3 boiler. After the reservoir had been expanded in 1776 Wehrhölzer forest, the pressure vessel in the tower was superfluous and 1779 replaced without replacement.
