This small ornamental tree has been designated the Vietnam MIA Freedom Tree. The tree stands on the north side of the Tennessee State Capitol grounds overlooking the Cumberland River in downtown Nashville, near the statue of President Andrew Johnson.

A small plaque at the base of the tree reads as follows:

"FREEDOM TREE
Dedicated April 1976
To honor the 1300 MIAs of the Vietnam War"
