The golf course was opened on September 10th 1911 with nine holes a mile east of the small town of Kintore by the banks of the River Don. In 1975 the club purchased the course from the Burgh Council and six years later the original clubhouse was replaced, then extended in 1995.
In 1988, additional land was purchased to the north and three years later the course became eighteen holes.
The opening and closing holes lie on a steep west facing slope, overlooking the river and town. Once up on top of the hill the course falls away down the other side during the middle section and is surrounded by woodland.
The course is extended to over 6,000 yards off the back tees and is a par 70 from all of the tees, with five par 3s and three par 5s. The clubhouse is open all day from dawn to dusk.
