"Ben Butler came to Cisco in 1928. He became the editor of the Daily News and in 1934 organized a rival newspaper called the Cisco Free Press. He formed a corporation and bought the Cisco Daily News, consolidating the two and the offspring was called the Cisco Press.


This newspaper was bought by the Eastland County Newspaper, 215 S. Seaman, Eastland, Texas 76448. It is published bi-weekly (Tue & Thur). The Eastland County Newspaper publishes newspapers for Eastland, Ranger, Rising Star and Gorman in addition to the Cisco paper.
